We all have ultra-busy schedules and it is sometimes hard to find time to eat nutrient dense food, but if healthful food isn’t a priority for you, it should be. If you don’t eat well, you risk being sad, depressed, lazy, tired, anti-social, and boring. Here are a few ways that eating nutritious food effects your level of happiness:
- Smart people are happy. Your brain is made of fat. Make sure you eat the correct amounts of beneficial fats so that your brain can function properly. Include foods rich in omega 3s. Omega 3 rich foods include fish, flaxseeds, eggs, and walnuts.
- Don’t skip meals. Your brain’s fuel is glucose, when it doesn’t have any, you’re going to act like a jerk. Make time.
- Too much fat in your diet can literally weight you down. 1 gram of fat is 9 calories as opposed to 4 calories in in 1 gram protein and carbohydrates. Incorporate fat in modest amounts. Too much fat will make your sluggish and depressed.
- Make sure that you’re eating all of your essential vitamins and minerals and if you aren’t sure, take a multi-vitamin. If you aren’t getting enough of any specific nutrient, this can lead to fatigue, decreased confidence, and inactivity.
- Keep the booze social and comfortable. Not only does alcohol contain lots of empty calories, there’s such thing as too much of a good thing! Too much alcohol can lead to depression.
